got out of jury duty at 12 today so what to do? go back to work, or hunt the church built on the ol amusement park site ::)........thats right ;D hunted the church! it is built on a site that was an amusement park around 1890 to 1934. i only found 1 old coin .........a 1919 wheat. seems like others have hit this place hard over the years. i did find an old dog tag and a cool token. if anyone has any info on it i would love to hear it! i haven't been able to come up with much on my own. i also found my first half! too bad it is about 100 years newer than i wanted! :'( a 1973 Kennedy half. i also found a gold ring but let me put that one in another post. i probably cant fit all the pics in one post.

heres the ring. i thought it was a class ring at first but there is no school name on it. only a basketball teams name. there is a name engraved in it and the guys jersey number is on it so hopefully it was a local team and i can track him down. in the center of the stone, there was a little gold emblem that fell off and got lost on the way home. :( its marked 10k. i was really happy to dig it because i dont dig many gold rings.

Anything on the back of that token?

there is some really small writing in the middle of the token on the back that i cant decipher. its just too small and corroded. it looks to me like the token says it was good on aug 22 1930. its kinda odd that it was only good for one day. makes me think it was a special event or something happening at the amusement park that day.

Hey Hollow, congrats on some nice finds. Now I'm going to date myself. I remember the machines down at Atlantic City that would make those tokens. You would put a nickle or dime in a machine and you could stamp out what you wanted the token to read. That one was the date the girl annie made it I would imagine. Was probably at the amusement park. Hope that helps. Really nice ring... Take care...Lance

Way to go Hollow....The token is very cool. I'm not as old as some of the others here ;D (JK), so I've never seen one like that. What a cool idea. Good luck with future hunts there!

Happy Hunting,
Moon

;D Nice stuff!!! Check out this link for info on the arcade token. It was supposed to say "Good Luck" but the person who made it typed too many characters on it for the "luck" to show.

thanks for the info guys! i think it makes it even cooler that i can put a girls name to the object! she would either be very old now, or long dead. you guys are amazing when it comes to identifying stuff!

Cool finds and best of luck in tracking down the owner of the ring.....HH

i found online the assistant coach of a "cougars" basketball team with the same name inside the ring. i e-mailed him and hopefully he will be able to describe the ring and the location where he lost it. it would be cool to find the guy that easily! of course.........in a way i will miss the ring too! ::) it looks good in my collection! but it would be better to return it to someone who has a connection to it. to me its just another ring in a collection, to him it probably holds a lot of memories.
