Went digging again and found myself 8 feet deep in a double seater pit. It was fun doing but it was tiring. That's a bunch of dirt to sling out of a hole. But it was worth it I think. All in all we snagged over 50 bottles on two pits. The first one was a 5 footer and then the "Holy Water" pit that tired Don and I out pretty fast. I posted the one bottle on the Whats It forum as well. It is the bottle with the Nun on the front and the wording states: Markus De Fabricus Oleo De Salvacion AG Meyer & Co. Is this an anointing oil/ holy water or what? Never saw one like it before. Most of the things we found were 1880/1890. The Bixby ink is patented 1883. There were several straight sided soda waters, hutches and a couple of beers from Toledo.

All in all it wass rather enjoyable ass the temps were just right for digging to China :tongue3: I hope you enjoy the pics. I have some more to post when I get the rest from Don. Goodluck and be safe out there. Jgas

MAN that TOTALLY sucks that the bottom is chipped off of that bottle! Have you looked up that one in the Bottle Book? It may have been a good one. I ABSOLUTELY HATEEEEEE when you pull a bottle out while bottle digging and think that you have the whole bottle only to find the last 1/4th is chipped off! >:( >:( Not a bad haul, keep following that "Vain" and there will be some more goodies in there!

Nice haul there as usual. I love seeing what kinds of bottles you pull out of the ground. I still haven't found a place with anything older than 1930's & 40's. Keep up the good work and how bout leavin some bottles for the other guys ! :)

Excellent! Nothing like the exercise you get digging a privy, let alone a two-seater!

Thanks for the replies everyone. This area where we are digging is a corner lot that had 3 homes with the back yards all backed up againt one another. So the pits are all over the place but mostly near the old garage foundations. Still have quite a few to go. I will of course keep ya posted on the next digs.

On another note, I dug a crock jug earlier in the season and just sold it for $350.00. So I guess this diggin is finally paying off. Even though I just flat out love to dig the history, it is nice to pay for a few lunches and waters along the way :tongue3: Thanks again everyone for the replies. Be safe out there. jgas
