What do you think it would have been used on?

Those are some beautiful looking finds there Jim! :icon_thumright: That field certainly has seen a lot of activity over the past 300 years, almost as much as the fields that Cru and his Dad hunt! ;D

This is an interesting piece, it looks to have threads on it, any idea what it might be from or it's age? :icon_scratch:

Congrats,
Dave

Hi Dave i dont think Cru and his dad would agree :laughing7: but 300 to 400 years old is good enough to me , i have that piece in a bath now not sure what it is but it,s heavy solid copper or brass i cant see any marking,s on it , it measures 3.5 inches long and about 3/4 inch wide at the threads ? and it,s hallow a small hole goes through the middle. Perhaps it screwed into a cannon the touch hole ? just a guess :dontknow: Jim

Hey Mike you bet each day now iam finding something those fields will take until mid Oct. to plow , that GT is simply amazing the plow goes a full 12 inches deep but this machine goes beyond the plows depth a lot of my finds are deep !! the very low whispers i dig them all that is how i found that large cent the more dirt removed from the hole the louder the signal gets .Thanks again buddy  Jim

Thanks for your reply Jim and for the picture of the cleaned item. :icon_thumright: I've never seen a "cannon touch hole" before, wouldn't that be so cool if that's what it was! :notworthy:

HH,
Dave
