Plantation woods - Relics & critters *VIDEO*

I took to the woods at a plantation property that I've been detecting for a few years. It finally cooled down a bit, so I think the ticks are gone, but as I saw the snakes and mosquitoes didn't get the memo. ;D
I detected around an old foundation and well and found an assortment of relics.
Here's a video I shot for your viewing pleasure:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ouXB103XTs

I ran in to a few critters including a ground hog at the base of a huge oak. He seemed content just watching me. ;D
The green snake (about 2' long) I walked up on would not budge. He stood his ground and looked like he was ready to defend his turf, so I moved along.

Some of my finds were:
*CW bullet - Williams cleaner

*US Army Marksman badge marked "sterling" - Any idea on the age?

*Owl on moon pendant

*Button marked "Pat. Feb. 1888"

*Sousa Band harmonica piece

*Trace chain piece

*Asst'd others.

Thanks for looking,
MM

Nice finds Doug!

That Maltese cross may have been part of a Confederate Reunion badge!

The funny looking bullet thing looks like an old arrow practice tip. We have many in the ground here. :D

Ladies like these would shoot them at husbands that run astray.

Some excellent pics and great finds MM. Glad you enjoyed "Groundhog Day". You are overdue for a banner recovery. Good luck Buddy, Quindy.

last pic was of a hem weight

Billn,
Not a hem weight. I have many hem weights. This is a button. The last picture is the top, and the picture with the "Feb. 1888" back mark is on the back of it. Also it is light, unlike a hem weight. :icon_thumleft: Thanks for the guess though.

Thanks Mikey. I was thinking it was an arrow tip, but wasn't sure. Maybe the husband is in the woods? :tongue3: ;D
Get well soon. We have some digging to do. :icon_thumleft:

Thanks Q.
If I found a CSA buckle like Dman's I could hang up my detector and just be content looking at that buckle every day. :notworthy: :icon_thumleft:

I agree 100%. Although it favors a hem weight, its brass and decorated on the front. Definitely a button :icon_thumleft:

Thanks Doug.
I feel honored that you even looked at my post after your latest BANNER find. :tongue3: :laughing9:
See, if you stick with Quindy long enough, good things happen. Oh wait, that's right he wasn't with you. Hmmmmmm. :icon_scratch: :tongue3:
I still think you two need to do a detecting show. :icon_thumleft:
