Pancake Padlock

Dug today at site of former inn near Philly. I believe this to be brass but not sure how to clean it. There is significant corrosion on this puppy. Any ideas?

nice find push key padlock you can try to clean the corrosion with a piece of hard wood like a tooth pick kinda thing i usually get a sliver off a piece of hickory from my wood pile nice find krazyhorses
