The ground here is frozen and I couldn't get down more than an inch or so due to the cold weather and snow. I did manage to hunt a small stand of trees and found a souvenir badge from the 1892 Republican National Convention held in Minneapolis, MN back in 1892. I also found a brass tag from the old Saint Paul Athletic Club.

Time to just sit back and wait for spring I guess. I could do some research and work on some of the rusty relics I have collected too. (I do have one rather thick - coin-shaped piece I thought was just a slug of iron but I discovered some writing stamped into it. It will keep me busy for a bit.)

Jealous of all you year-round hunters!! Good luck all!
:)

Thanks for the kind comments!

It wasn't a winning year for the Republicans:

"Although successful in his bid for renomination, President Harrison's performance was underwhelming for an incumbent due in part to the crushing defeat that the party's Congressional candidates had met in the 1890 off year elections. He lost the fall 1892 election to former president Grover Cleveland."

The Republican National Convention did not return to this area until 2008.
