Hello all, its been a while since I have posted anything so, here it goes. I went out to look for arrowheads at a site near my father's house, and then on to another site to look for fossils. Looking for arrowheads didnt go as good as I thought it would at the first site, and neither did looking for fossils. I had been out in the woods for about 4 hours with nothing to show for it, and I was starting to get dehydrated. After another hour I had ran out of water and was going to start heading for home. I was getting severly dehydrated by this time. I walked down a path leading down a hill and as I neared the bottom of the hill, I noticed a glimmer on the ground. I bent down to get a closer look and I saw the form of a spear point laying there on the ground. Right next to it was another, and another! I searched the area, and within a foot on either side I found another 2 points! I went back today and found 3 drills (one was over 3 inches long!!) and 5 more points!!! I talked to Robert Overstreet, the auther of "The Overstreet Guide to Indian Arrowheads", and he told me to send some pictures of the cache to him and he will include them in his next book. I never thought that I would find something this big. I hope you enjoy the pics, and please let me know what you think.

Thanks and HH!

Fox

What a cool find! Do you have a sifter box?? I'd be combing that spot about now.

Man if I found a cache like that, I would have thought I died and went to heaven!
Great, Great, finds. I went out yesterday and only found a few broken arrowheads and
no whole ones. Well maybe the next time. I just love to walk those fields looking for that
neat relic.

Re: Found a Cache!!! Of Arrowheads!!!

I have a stupid question....

... Why is it that arrowheads, that are obviously older, often remain on the top of the soil when just about every coin sinks down under the surface?

Re: Found a Cache!!! Of Arrowheads!!!

Lambretta, I like your question. I don't know the answer. I know it has to do with different soils having a different "turbulence" to them. I've posted on this mostly just to "bring it to the top" of recent listings. So who out here can explain it? I know we've got experts on this. Thanks. -Ben

Unfortunately, digging for artifacts is illegal in Indiana, I'm not sure how it is for other states. I would love to dig for them though. All of these were found on the surface in about a 3 foot area.

These points are worth between $150 and $500 each, but because they were found in a cache, that triples or quadruples the values of each one. I would never sell these, no matter how much they are worth. I made the mistake of selling some of my artifacts once and I have regretted it ever since.
