Kirk, Chris, and I got out to a new farm last Sunday. It was very windy, so we didn't stay any longer than two hours.

Right on the fringe of the field that we had permission for, I got a nice dime reading. It turned out to be the 1775 King George III halfpenny. I yelled for the fellas to come over. I later found the 1863 store token and 1853 Seated Liberty dime in the immediate vicinity. Kirk got his 1832 Capped Bust half dime in this iron patch as well. We believe the early site sat in the next field over. Unfortunately, we don't have permission for that yet. We will seek it in Spring.

The cut Braided Hair large cent was found at another home site on the farm. The site was producing some tombac buttons and pewter spoon pieces, so we'll give that one another shot as well in Spring.

We also are going to be exploring some other promising fields on this parcel. I think at least one more will be producing some early keepers!

Kyle, like the others have said, the find of the day was that token! Not too shabby of a KGIII though. Two silvers that day, hmmmmn, too high of a silver to copper ratio! LOL

Good job, bro, on digging some fine coins. We will be sweeping on this parcel in the Spring. I am juicing up my machine for some good 2011 digging.

Thank you for the replies, everyone!

In my opinion, the King George III was the day maker. Yes, the store token is a not-so-seen find, but I'd much rather have a nice Colonial coin any day of the week. ;D

That store card beats the heck out of a common large cent. The KG is in great shape, and the dime is a beauty!

Best Wishes,

Buck

Sweeeeeeeeet early pre-winter finds there K'dude ! Envious .... I miss the "hunt".

KKC putting the machines in mothballs for the season ? Fridgid temps, waist deep snows and frozen solid ground cant stop the 'team' !

Keep diggin ! :headbang:

Wayda go Kyle!

Some great finds there. I'm partial to colonial coins too, but its not very often when you can pull out a unique token like that. So I'll have to agree with everyone else that the token was the find of the day. Hope you guys can get back out another time or 2 before the weather gets ugly. Say hi to Kirk for me.

Very nice token - a quick search found a Charles Willard, "retail dry goods merchant", age 37, living in Bryce, York Twp., Sandusky Co. in the 1870 census. Apparently not far from Bellevue. Congrats.
