Went out Sunday for a few hours to a spot I have been before. Years ago it was an old mining town near Mariposa , California but today a private property which the owner allows me to hit anytime I want. Usually I find a lot of iron junk going back to the 1840's to 1930's gold rush, because of the great depression, many came and grubbed for gold to feed themselves. I decided to take my MXT with the 5.3 eclipse coil and detect around large rock formations and out croppings. I came to a spot where I would think someone would rest for a while, I wedged my small coil in between two large rocks and got a good signal, digging down expecting more iron trash out came my first powder flask ! It's a bit flat but has a beautifulll stamp on it. Good Hunting to you all... :icon_thumleft:

That's one beautiful find there RH! :icon_thumright:
Love the detail work in the metal, looks similar to a Fleur-de-lis and pretty old too!
Possibly of French origin? :icon_scratch:

"The fleur-de-lis French pronunciation. Is a stylized lily (in French, fleur means flower, and lis means lily) or iris that is used as a decorative design or symbol. It maybe "at one and the same time, political, dynastic, artistic, emblematic, and symbolic", especially in heraldry."

Cheers,
Dave
