1787 MASS COPPER, Large cent, Silver & Gold Day !

Started the day nice and warm, 32 degrees. ( NO WIND ). Did some more research on a beach that I was hoping would turn out to be virgin. ( IT WAS ) Picked up my Dad and on our way we went. Arrived and within 5 minutes of the hunt I tuned to see him waving me over to see his first find of the early morning, he was pointing to his ring finger....... I could read his lips, GOLD ! I couldn't get there fast enough. As I was about getting to him I had a signal that we all love to see and hear, SILVER, and sure enough it was, my first ring of the day, a small but very old Knot Ring ( silver in deed ). anyway as I saw the gold being pulled from his goodie bag I got the second hit of the day, out pops a Large Cent an 1802 to be exact... OK we are on a roll already and the pressure is off.... OK I am trying to go slow but it seemed trashless....WOW....... We didn't get many targets, but what we did get was quality finds. His ring turned out to be a High School Ring 10K (no Name) but it had a date that was 1932......Off I went to where I started. Signal three.... A 1916 P Walking Liberty..... OK by this time I thought finally research paid off....... Virgin Ground for sure. fourth signal I just can't believe 4 inches deep, in the bottom of the scoop is this nice thick and green disk....... a MASS COPPER 1787 OK about now I am starting to tremble a bit.... Now I call Dad to see what I have...lolol he was smiling all the way. he was getting cold but stayed long enough to see me dig the few remaining silver coins, a 1946 Rosie, 1937 Washington Quarter, and a Buffalo Nickel. What a fantastic hunt with my Dad. He turned 80 in November and still has the passion, I will take any day that he is willing to hunt with me.Happy Holidays to everyone.

Wow, it's strange how certain relics/coins come and go in patterns. This week is the MA copper week.....and prior to that was silver colonial spoon week.....Maybe it's just me, but I find it a bit odd. ??? Nice recoveries!

Great finds and a great time with your dad. Tell your dad I admire him detecting at age 80 and I believe it keeps him young and in pretty good health too because his passions keep him going. I'm only 72 but detecting keeps me looking forward to another year of fun.

Sniffy,
I have to respond to you. I have noticed this pattern over the Many Many years that my Dad and I have been coin detecting. some days we get mostly nickels, then just a lot of quarters on another day, of we find just a lot of buttons, it's really crazy, I remember one week a few seasons ago, all we found were dimes dimes dimes..... it was nut's. OK for the bis question....... does this only happen to me & Dad? or do any of you have this experience?

TYKIT,
I mentioned it to him, he said it exactly like you said, It gives him something to look forward to every Spring... I bring him along on almost every hunt, he's not only a good coin detectorist, but he's good luck, I find a lot of goodies when he is within sight of this old boy... Keep YOUNG and keep hunting.... Merry Christmas

That was one fantastic day. That's to cool that your dad can still hunt at that age.
The best to both of you.
This is the best hobby in the world.
