Gerstner & Sons box, Display cabinet. Gift from wife !!

I got the best gift EVER yesterday from my TOTALLY AWSOME wife !

Vintage, Gerstner & Sons machinists tool box! The box has been refurbished, but is in incedible shape. Quarter sawn oak, finger joints at the corners. Looks like the original hardware. The key is missing so some one added the little "flipper" at the top. The back has been replaced, the felt is new and it has been refinished on the outside. Original leather handle. I think it is an early model # 31 Any one with info on the box please chime in

I have started to fill it with relics and coins.........

wowee! that is one sweet box.
i imagine you were able to fill that one up pretty fast.
your problem now might be that you won't be able to find another box as nice as that one.
but that's a good problem to have...

Great gift.Great box.When I was still working as a machinist,1964,a coworker had an original one that looked like brand new.I really envied it.

I have been at it for four years. I have my better buttons in other cases. I am sure that what is in the box will change from time to time

I use one of my boxes for detecting finds. The other has all the tools in it. I work in front of a computer now telling the machines to do what I use to do by hand. So not much use for the boxes anymore. The boxes make nice displays.

Here's a tip. You can buy the compartmented inserts for the Riker Mount type display cases seperate from the cases. Cut them to fit and put them in the drawers. I also did that with foam ring trays.

That's a great looking display case!
When I first saw it I thought . . . maybe it had belonged

That is one gorgeous Fly Tying Table! The "vise" would attach at the slide out on the plate, and the materials would be stored in the drawers. It's really a good one.

Solid oak and first class.
