Happy New Year to everyone !. Well today started out like many other days with picking up my Dad & Scallywags.... The weather was cooperating with us in a great way. Got up to 50 degrees here on Cape Cod.... Did a little scouting and web brousing last evening. I found a nice little beach that none of us had ever been to. We needed a change of scenery. Well upon arriving we noticed the tide had not gone out as far as we would have liked. I jumped out anyway and started finding a few pennies here and there. A quarter, then PIRATE TREASURE......Even though some young child had lost these replicas, It still gave me a chill to see them come to the surface. In all, I found 2 pieces of 8, and I think the others are 1/2 reales.... LOLOL I did manage to get a silver ring, a V nickel (Holed) and 2 Indian head pennies.... A greatway to spend the day with a friend and my Dad.... Happy Hunting....

I think the rush of a find is what drives me, so even when it's not the real deal you still get that moment that sends the shiver up your spine.

You did great!! Even the copies are a blast to find! My first "Spanish cob" was a copy (fortunately I found a real Maravedis the following year), but even up to the point where I managed to get the crud off to clearly see the word "copy" it was fun. We vacation on the Cape from time to time.....hope to meet you up there some time. Best, Erik

I knew what they are, but probably read the post a little more carefully than some to make sure you knew what they are.
