1780's Grist Mill , First 2011 Extra large Cent

Hi T Net , 1- 2-11 first 2011 , classic head copper not what I am use to finding , but I'll take it , first coin for 2011 ......Large Cent ...... finds today are a buckle , cross , and buttons . Iron relics ; oxen shoes , horse shoes , all sizes , and logging relics . Thanks for stopping in , CMD

Very cool! Always interesting to see how people used to improvise back in the day. Probably easier to work a cent into whatever they need rather than spend more on a smithed part? I've seen one that was carved intricately into a working gear... pretty cool!

I would still call it a copper ! The Classic Head Cent series were made on inferior or "junk" planchets. This is why they are so hard to find in higher grades. Maybe the "junk" planchet is why it cracked They should have used a Draped Bust

Man Dawg, that Largie was pretty dang well mangled up and down. There's no telling what purpose that it served and how it ended up looking that way but its definitely

different than just finding your run of the mill Largie. That Shoe Buckle piece is sweet too, and dang near whole. The other piece may still be out there hiding somewhere.
