THE COIN WERE NOT STORED PROPERLY FOR WHO KNOWS HOW MANY YEARS SO THE CONDITION WAS BAD ON SOME OF THEM. I CARDED THE SILVER MYSELF.
QUESTION - I HAVE ABOUT 1500 WHEAT COINS COLLECTED OVER THE YEARS BUT WHAT DO I DO WITH THEM? DO I SELL THEM AS BULK OR TRY TO SELL THEM IN SMALL SETS. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM.

Congratulations on getting them coins. As for selling your wheat's, I sell them in bulk. I sell between 500 and 1500 at a time. I usually get between 2 and 5 cents each selling them this way.

Last time I went to a club sponsored hunt there was a guy there buying wheat pjennies for 3 cents apiece. Don't kow what they are worth, but not worth anything sitting in a jar in the closet! Monty

I think I'd hang on to those wheats a little longer if I were you. I saw an ad in this month's Kiplinger's magazine that stated the government is gonna drop penny production soon because it now costs 1.23 cents to produce a penny. Oh..by the way that same ad was trying to sell ½ pound lots of wheaties for $19.95.

Coins magazine came yesterday and an article stated that copper pennies minted before 1982 are worth 2.4 cents each meltdown as scrap copper. The base price for wheaties should be at least 3 cents each. Silver meltdown is 9.40 per 1$ face value, mercury dime= 94 cents scrap silver. Franklin half= $4.70, etc.
