I sold this lock to a collector that needed it for his collection. He just sent pics of the lock restored and working. Wow... Arty

That's very interesting how he cleaned it up. Maybe with some kind of grinder or metal brush. Seems to go against the conventional wisdom that collectors like the patina and age look.

I have a rare one as well with a dark green patina. hadn't considered trying to clean it that vigorously but maybe I'll think about it now.

Hello billpa, he recut the levers and springs and cuts his own keys.

BobinSouthVA, the lock was soaked in marvel and hit with a sonic cleaner. The lock itself was blasted with walnut media and a fine media on the bad spots then it was put back together and repatinated where the damage was to match. The lock is worth around $400. refinished and is in one of Americas largest collections. Arty
