Well the get together had 5 of us using 5 different detectors. 4 of us finding silver and everyone coming home with 1930's or older coins. Several of the guys found silver war nickels. The oldest coin went to Jim (BigfootOkie) with a 1908 V nickel. I did find a 1941 merc, a spot find of a 1938 buffalo just laying on top of the ground. I also found my first ring of the year, unfortunately copper rings aren't too valuable, especially with a faux emerald. It was old so I was happy. And I got to run an Etrac for a few minutes, all I got to say is its gonna be a long 2 weeks before mine gets here... Happy Hunting GH...

Gonehunting,
What is the "Squirrel/Lighthouse" piece made of, can you tell? I'm still curious as to what it is or how it was used? It's odd that it would have a design on both sides, maybe a playing piece for some sort of game? :dontknow:

Edit: Did you clean the ring? If so, how about an updated pic?

Nice digs GH - happy to hear everyone dug some old coins. I did a double take when I saw the squirrel - a couple years back I dug a brass squirrel of almost exact style/design (see pic). Wondering if it might have been a game piece like Roland had stated. HH DD-777 :icon_thumright:

By the way - that ring is SWEET no matter what it's made from...

the squirrel thing is made out of a rubber type material. I found it on top of the ground about 10 foot from the buffalo. Not quite sure how old it is.
I haven't cleaned the ring, im really unsure what to use that would work. I looked at it thru a loop and there is no markings, There is a small streak of gold color so I'm sure it was plated. The stone is evidently fake because it
seems to have melted from the heat of the fire.
