Hi all,

Been hunting an old settlement in the woods off an abandoned, closed road here on Long Island not far from my shop. I've visited the area several times and came up with an Admiral Dewey souvenir medal, a 1902 barber dime and a 1935 Mercury dime (see my other post titled Gold, Silver, ect.) and assorted old junk. Saturday after two hours of hunting, I came up with what I knew was an 18th century copper, but it wasn't until I got home and researched the net, did I find out it's a Nova Constellatio Copper. It's probably the 1785 issue. Too bad it's so corroded. Below is a link showing the coin in nice condition.

Nice coin. Coins get rough here in P.a also. I found my oldest coin last year. It was a 1787 new jersey copper.

Luckily the site had really rich soil. The coins were pretty nice.

It is still a great find in any condition.

Wow, corroded or not, that is still quite a find! :o

This northeastern soil is so rough on coppers. Tonight I dug up a couple of pennies from the late 1970's and they're already badly corroded after what, only 25-30 years?
