Was at my local Sears Parts and Service Center yesterday and picked up a PT 3 in1 stud finder for 8 bucks! This thing makes a great little pinpointer in the metal setting. I get a quarter at 4" and its really precise. A pinpointer for 8 bucks, great little Fathersday gift. And you guys that micro solder, it would be easy to add a probe and extend the coil, opens with 4 screws.

Was wondering if that would work. I bought a toy MD at Toys B Us, but its 4" coil is still too big for pinpointing. Thanks for the tip!

Sounds interesting. Do you have a part number? I looked for it on the web site but didn't see it.
