Hi all, been busy lately and had the dentist yesterday. Ouch ! Ouch ! and hurts the pocket too :-[

I went to a site i have been hunting off and on for years and some times make good finds and other times go home empty handed. This time i finally found a piece of gold at this site.

The Cornish United Mine started in 1863 and ceased in 1920 , main shaft was 2400 feet deep and had 27 levels. Between 1887 t0 1920 , 43,000 ozs of gold was mined , Sorry don,t have the info on the early days.

With the finds is a copy of a miners account of the site written in 1890 and a copy of the only known pic of the mine and a local Cornish History book . Yes research is every thing.

Managed a few miners button , nice WW 1 British Empire button, 1800,s trouser waist buckle and a Thomas White token from the 1850's and a young head half penny and a piece of gold.

Site like this are very junky and under the junk there still few keepers.

Used a Gpx 4500 with a Mono 12 inch and all settings for mineralized ground. Listen for the deeper mutter threw the chatter of ground noise. Ground balance every few minutes rids the noise but soon returns

Ain't it funny, almost all nuggets resemble "Something"?
To me, that one looks kinda like a person, with legs and arms crossed..
Great finds and a great story/spot!!
