Hello All,
This was my first signal of the day. When I flipped it out
I assumed it was a British button from the American Revolution era, but the condition gave me 2nd thoughts, 8 hours later, I'm home and I've got a positive ID. It's the real deal: A British 60th Royal American Regiment of Foot circa 1774, 24 MM :hello2:
http://www.historicalimagebank.com/...m21/album46/RWb46ds_60th_button_copy.jpg.html
I also got a nice civilian pewter, and a thin Seated Dime
Maybe 1842/1847,
some other stuff too,
can't type anymore, I've just dug my best find to date.
HooWee, Best Digs to You All!

With the dedication and persistance you have shown working those flats it was only a matter of time before another Banner find showed up under your coil again ! I'm a bit surprised it took as long as it did ! Congradulations Herbie ! This great historical find is certainly well deserved ! MaineRelic

Thanks All !
Great ID, Steve and Patch, I only have a Tice 'Uniform Buttons of the United States', which is of course no use with British buttons, but also disappointing on its lack of buttons prior to CW era, though its Title states '1776-1865'.

IDug this at a likely spot near the Earliest Overt Action of the Revolution, 1774.

Though absolutely filled with junk, I knew if I kept clearing it out there would be
nice items beneath.
Two days of finding nothing postworthy, (and you all know, I'll post most anything)
third day, some silver & the picture frames,
4th day, bingo :hello2: Buttons, Buttons, I found a Button.
Nothing like a Nice Button :icon_sunny: Wellll, I don't mind digging Coins with history either, but there's nothing like Old Military Buttons :hello:
My Girl Laurie was with me enjoying the sun, & when I told her my thoughts about the button she said, 'You made a nice find, can't we go shopping now?'
She has hunted with me before, and was thrilled to find a 65 quarter, I bring the Safari for her to use, but usually she will read or just eyeball the sites.
We agreed on leaving shortly and I made a few more decent finds in that time.
I have so far concentrated on a small area of this site, Am hoping for a few more goodies here.
Again thanks for looking & Happy Hunting to All!

The Company is enjoyed, but usually limits dig time.
most hunts are squeezed in before, during, or after work,
the tides determine when my work begins and ends.
At least till ground thaw, got a few inland sites planned for spring :hello2:
I have a question about this button I can't find the answer to,
Would this particular button be from a 'Red Coat' ? :help:
Thanks to you all Again

In that snow?

I though I was bad. You need metal detecting intervention my friend. LOL

But then again, if I had a chance to dig stuff like you do, I would probably be out there too.
