I was hunting an 200 year old house today and my detector was picking up some metal and while digging around 6-8" down I saw this white quartz arrowhead along with some square nails come out of the dirt. I wonder if the arrowhead was there before the house was built or used by Indians visiting the owners? It was found between their parking lot and the house.

I believe I have a quartz arrowhead. It was found near the Swedish Cabin in Upper Darby. It was unusual looking (triangular and sharp) so I saved it

Sorry old timer

I wholeheartedly disagree with both of you.I have been collecting arrowheads for over 35 years, have been knapping them for over 20,and live on the Mother lode so Quartz is plentiful here, and will tell you from experience it is one of the hardest stones there is to chip, and at least out here they are extremely RARE,show me a bunch if they are so common!!

I live in Rock Hill SC, I hunt in both NC and SC and quartz is very abundant here also all but one of the many points ive found have been quartz.

I found this is southeast Alabama, cotton field in cottonton, Alabama. A HUGE FIELD. i have found amazing things in this field as if i am the only one to have ever searched. In one month i have collected evrything from 1890 nickle cologne bottles, bones that have ends carved to some sort of purpose, locks from slave shackles(shot off apparently) eery but hey, its the REAL blood of southern history and i respect it in every manner. Anywho, there is a creek (hence the Creek Nation territory it was found i , shared by that of the Muskogee and im sure several nomad tribes throughout time. Amazing stuff. Ive only searched 30% of this field and i have half a five gallon bucket full of artifacts. Im blessed to access to this location. I plan a dig soon, granted permission of course. Im excited as this would make my first dig ever. Im ready for it. 100+ heat, bring it. There is a story to be told

I have lots of arrowheads only 2 are quartz. I would think it would be hard to work. It could have been with the square nails because a kid had picked it up ??? I was looking around a burned out homestead and my buddy found handful of points that had been thru the fire.
