I don't get to hunt alot, but I try to make sure I am on the oldest sites everytime I go. This field site has been good to me and I knew if I lurked there enough, I might get lucky. After a couple hours of nothing significant, I finally got an iffy signal that was worth checking out. Once the initial dirt was removed the signal hit a little better and then I spotted her. Can't explain my excitement and was pleased with the condition even though it has a couple small scratches. Lucky the plows didn't tear her up after all of these years. It is going to be tough for me to beat this coin in Michigan. I have found older coins but these old silver coins are few and far between. Thanks for looking. I may try to get some better photos in the daylight tomorrow.

Oh how I love to see those capped busts come out of the ground. Nice one. :icon_thumright:

Glad to see ya finally got out Mark! and then ya tied me with that sweet silver coin! I think yours had a bit less wear on it then mine did. I knew sooner or later with all the good spots you hit it would happen! I won't be surprised a bit when ya beat this coin. This is one heck of a find for there in Michigan, especially considering that your county was settled in 1830 so I would vote it to the banner!

GREAT FIND......I find stuff much older in Korea.....where I live/hunt. But, they don't surpass what you
pulled out of the ground. I am jealous, for sure.

That's an amazing silver you dug, any chance to see a group shot of some other finds from the field? I had no idea Michigan gave up such nice oldies :o

Those are hard to find anywhere and that one is sweet.

Not much compares to seeing silver in the dirt at an old spot.

Not much wear on that beautiful piece of old silver. Could not have been in circulation much when it was found. :icon_thumright:

I usually do show the other finds but the only other noteable finds were a couple lead balls (bullets), part of a harmonica reed, and some miscellaneous brass pieces. There are not a lot of targets left in this field but I keep picking at it.

Thanks to all for your comments.

A really nice coin! Looks like freshly dropped. You've got a sweet coin there. And probably a few more where that was.
