I have not posted a find in a while but I did find something a little different (at least for me) today. I found a 1832 Province of Nova Scotia Half Penny Token. When I get home tonight I will clean it up a bit then post pictures. Looks to be in okay shape. It was found during a lunchtime hunt today btw it was freezing out. It was in a hole with a 1911 Barber dime so I thought it was a early 1900s British coin at first. I had found some of them in the general area before. After rinsing it off and seeing what I had I don't think the two coins were actually lost togeter.

The only other cool find today was a 1892 Indian head stuck to a 1910 wheat penny.

Happy hunting

Added pictures - I could not get good pictures...the detail is better then it looks in the pictures.

Thanks Novafinder...I sure did not expect this here in NJ but some of those old Canadian Bank/Tokens seem to have had a wide distribution. Quite a few of the Canadian Bank Token have been posted in todays finds over the years. Yours is out there waiting for you.

Province of Nova Scotia Halfpenny Token 1832

During the nineteenth century many British Colonies suffered from severe shortages of small change. While it was unlawful for the colonies to strike coins of their own to alleviate the difficulties, there were ways around the law, thus we have this halfpenny token of 1832 from the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Equal in size and weight to a British halfpenny, and bearing the effigy of King George the Fourth, despite him having died in 1830.

From the land of the Bluenose.....that is along way from home. We find them here on a regular basis. The one penny is dated 1832, 1840 and 1842. Ther is one misdate of 1382! Nice scoff.
