stopped at this spot I found the other day was hoping for some old coins but it wasn't to be the very first target I dug was the flat button with "Gilt" on the back, :laughing7:
gave me hopes for this site, dug another flat button that sure looks like a tombac, shank is broke off, then a third button that back is rusted away.

I found all the other stuff all over the site, what is it?? looks like lead, but it is pitted...any clues?

I usually refer to that sort of metal as pot metal. Its an alloy of various sorts so that phrase covers a lot of bases. Looks to be furniture hardware though, and maybe even casket hardware lol.

well I think you hit the nail on the head, because this park WAS a cematary in the 1800's and they moved it in early 1900s........There is absolutely NO iron in this park, so I don't think there was any house or structure ever here. If they moved a cemetary is it possible that they broke off hardware from the caskets while digging them up?

Nice Buttons and Relics,
very familiar with "pot metal" items like those, cast from whatever scraps available for the pot. Great Hunt
