3 Stooges headed for the fields on a treasure hunt that went for 3 days straight. I must say I am beat, I invited Newt and Wilson 220 up for a few days of Hill Billy hunting. We hit many sites, some rehunts and some new. It was a great time and was good to see friends that I hadn't seen in 3 years.
Where to begin? I've lost track of the days and what was found when. One day I won't forget was my first Capped Bust, and a short while later my second Half Cent, and later in the day... my first Grooved Axe. Newt dug a Sword Handle, we would like a little help with this find if anyone recognizes it. Check out the finds and happy digging to all.

Yeah, I'll say!

Tell Newt that his sword handle is most certainly a dirk, but I am not certain of any more than that. The place to post it is on the sword forum: http://swordforum.com/ They could probably tell you when and where it was made, and what someone ate for breakfast they day they made it. :D

My friend, the Capped is overdue. You'll have to drop Coinmaster a line and tell him that you're a Half Cent up on him. I am absolutely amazed that those coins are coming up in KY and Indiana. And you know how many sites we've hunted in pursuit of the elusive Capped Bust coin. The artifacts are amazing too. Is that a piece of a banner stone??!! I'd eyeball that field every year when it's plowed to see if I could find the other piece of the axe and the rest of the bannerstone. The edge on one of those points is really cool. And a drill too?

All I can say is Wow.

I knew this would be a good year for you, but goodness this blows away what I could've imagined.

I am thinking a short dress sword. Nice. You tore it up. It is fun to look for indian artifacts while you swing isn't it? Takes a good eye. You guys had 3 very good days and went back a couple thousand years with your finds. My kinda hunt
Nice!!

Some variety of CW-era musician's sword it is. :hello2: Good Lord, that's a nice find. How's this for a photo?

P.S.--be sure to check any piece of brass you dug in that site. There's more of the knuckle bow from that sword out there somewhere.

I spent hours looking for that sword handle and finally found something that looked close. I take it you agree with my ID. :headbang:

Absolutely Wow! I bet you are tired after all that hunting, but gosh it really looks like it was WELL worth it. Congrats on your first capped bust, the axe is a special find also. The sword handle, I'd still be dancing with glee. HH with friends, look forward to seeing what you find next time.
