My friend Reid and I have been hitting a very small local site that's been hunted heavily for 30+ years. But we've been focusing ourselves in the extremely heavy iron area. Our F75s are sounding off like rapid fire machine guns, but by turning the sensitivity way down and swinging slow and close to the ground we've been able to pick up a few questionable signals which in many cases turn out to be something good. Actually, we've been quite surprised with the number of keepers that have been coming out of this small spot, and its renewed our interest in hunting here. My best find from my last couple of hunts has been a nice pewter script I that I dug on Sat at only 2". But it was hiding real good in the iron. This was very near the same spot where I pulled out a nice 1802 LC a couple weeks ago as well a bust 1/2 dime last year. Anyway, looks like a return trip is definitely in order.

Seems clear you have a good spot! Hope you can sort through the iron to get to the really good stuff.

That is a nice early infantry button Bill. I have dug one of them here in PA but it was pretty eaten up. Luckily yours was not in contact with a small bit of iron.

Low sensitivity on the F75 in heavy iron does the trick. I have been doing the same thing at an iron infested house site here in PA and finding buttons that I missed previously.
