Yep broke out with no plan at all as the wife just wanted to get out some on the boat today. So we drove 1hr and launched the boat.Went blind on this one & had no real good areas to get to so had to settle with what I could do.But we had fun & are sun fried now. ;D Did come up with a wore out large cent (purdy sure) and a few other knick knacks.Like the glass button & the Yellow Jacket buckle piece never seen one like it before.
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

Got the bird band info back today didn't take as long as they said.At the bottom of this post. If you find these the people are nice & it does not take long to answer the questions. And is a big help to them.
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

Re: Unchartered Waters leaves me having to settle.

Going with William III, mine weighs 8.3grams & the diameter is exact 28.4mm.And there I was about to just through it aside as a large cent. :D :laughing9:

Halfpenny [1695-1701] William III W3HD

Obverse: GVLIELMVS . TERTIVS .
Reverse: [ILLEGIBLE]

Weight: 135.1 g (8.75 grams) Diameter: 28.4 mm

Comments: From the location of the hair ribbon near the L this well worn copper can be identified as the second of William's two obverses, which dates to the end of his reign during 1699-1701. Note the reverse has been worn smooth.

Is that a band from a bird's leg?

Might be a great gesture on your part to let someone know you recovered it. You might be able to help add to some researchers work in tracking migration habits, or possibly find out what happened to one of their missing specimens, endangered or not.

Thanks Gunrunner61,
Ha!Ha!,I did work on it as best I could a little more. And wanted to see how much detail I could get from such a smooth coin, but no doubt "Gain & Pain" had alot in common that day (both are smoked) ;D
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

Also got up with the folks about the bird band yesterday. There were pleased about it & are going to mail me a certificate about the bird it was attached to.When, where, what kind,& info on the bird itself thought that was kinda neat.Should take 2 to 4 weeks they said if I'm not busy packing along then I'll post it.
Thanks for the replies folks.

Re: Unchartered Waters leaves me having to settle.

I like all the horse teeth and cow teeth in the collection. Looks like many were found on the beach while a bunch were found in the meadow. I picked one up and first thought it was a piece of rubber and almost threw it back. Took a closer look and bingo. I keep hoping for my first mammoth molar, but it is usually the guys in the gravel pits that snag those. Occasional are found in stream banks.
