I think they are awesome! Don't know if rocks get enough respect around here.....but I would be totally happy to find those.

Thanks sekypaleo .. They were just eyeball finds I picked up while walking the fields. I thought the striped stone was unusual, especially since it was miles away from any streams or rivers. Anyhow, thanks for looking and for the kind words.

I was a big rock collector as a kid...still do some today. My wife can spend hours finding different rocks in a streambed. I agree that the one with the resin/sap is really cool. Again...great finds

Thanks Quindy. Yes, they came from my ranch. Maybe on the next trip I can give advance notice and we can dine at the Cracker Barrel again.

Neat finds, love the amber piece,
I've known about this local 'petrified forest' for a while,
stumps from trees that grew 4000 years ago during lower sea levels, now underwater except at the lowest tides, located near the first NH settlement, 'Pannaway', exact location never determined. (I'm still lookin)

Cool looking pieces! I have an extensive rock collection myself. I found some Petrified specimens in the South Dakota region a few years back, but not like the first one posted...That is a nice one! The other rock appears to be banded agate, they look awesome after a month of tumbling.

Great post

Great finds :icon_thumright:. Proof that all good finds are not metal. You just have to keep your eyes open. I hunt a site near my home with civil war and revolutinary war relics, but it has a creek on the site that has lots of whale bones, seashells, and megalodon sharks teeth. Not bad when you consider it is over one hundred miles from the modern day ocean. It's amazing what is around to find if we keep our eyes open and pay attention to our surrounding area.....Happy Hunting!
