BACK TO THE 1790'S HOME

decided to go back up to the colonial home today.spent 4 hours there. as you can see the junk to good stuff ratio is crazy! i dug my butt off today
11 wheaties,a 1941 silver washington,a pewter buckle and thought i had a large copper for sure.turns out to be a local peter & paul cadbury company goodluck token.peter & paul made alot of candy bars when plant was open in naugatuck,ct.the company has since shut down it's plant and moved to who knows where.probably overseas like most other us companies
anyways i fried up those morels i found yesterday with egg and flour fried in butter.boy were they good! if you see no further threads posted by me..you know what happened :laughing7:

Nice finds. Be careful with those morels. I just collected these from nearby forest. Gyromitra esculenta is deadly poisonous but we eat these after boiling them twice when they have no poison left and are delicious.

Awesome Buckle :o
First Jewelled pewter I've seen, similar shape to # 26 & 30 here:
http://www.netmarshall.co.uk/bucklepage18.htm
Like that scalloped spoon!
regarding those shrooms, Morels are pitted, the Gyromitras are wrinkled/ folded.
most wild mushrooms have some degree of toxicity, some like, 'Shaggy Manes', pic 1
Are excellent, but toxic before cooking.
Even After cooking, some people will get ill if they are comsumed with alcohol :icon_scratch:
The 'Hen of the Woods' grow really large up here, 8 pounder below.
Here's some info on those called the 'foolproof four'
http://botit.botany.wisc.edu/toms_fungi/may2004.html
Best Digs tom you
