This is my first silver find which is an 1858 Seated Liberty Dime, NO FOOLING. I found this late last July three weeks into the hobby in my own back yard and this is what totally hooked me...This is my favorite coin because it totally blew me away. I had no idea what it was (other than a dime) when I pulled it. I've been told that it's in AU condition(by fellow dirtfishers) and that's great (if so) but in any grade, I'm thrilled that it was my first silver. Thank you for looking and epic hunts for everyone!

I got hooked by old coins found in my yard with a cheap detector 10 years ago. I was thrilled with a few silver "Rosies" and a Washington Quarter. You skipped all the modern stuff and went right to the stuff that took me years to find! In fact I still have not found a Seated Dime!

Congratulations, and welcome to an amazing hobby!

What state are you in, and what kind of detector were you using?

My first silver coin was a barber dime shortly after I started detecting in 1999. Took forever to find my next silver coin ;D . Still looking for my first seated coin :dontknow: . You must have been thrilled when you dug the seated dime. Beautiful looking dime. Congratulations! :icon_thumright:

Hi Neil, I'm in Massachusetts and I found that coin with a Minelab Xterra 305. Now I swing the 505 w/ a DD coil upgrade and it's a solid machine.
