I FINALLY broke into the 1700's !!!!!!!!! 1773 Virginia Half Penny!

I was hunting an old farm today and this was the FIRST target I dug, I have absolutely NO idea what it is, but it has a clear date of 1773....man I am pumped up!!! I scratched it, sadly because it had roots all over, but right now I am so happy I don't even care. Before this my oldest coin was a undated capped bust dime. I still cannot believe I dug a colonial coin in OHIO!!!!! WooHoOOOOO :hello2: :laughing7: :headbang:

I took a bunch of pictures trying to get the best shot and angle....

As stated it is a VA half penny, but when you look it up you will see two types. Period and no period yours looks like a no period.
yes I believe it is a NO period and that is the more scarce one. It looks to me according to my google research there was only around 600,000 minted total......makes it even more rare of a find, especially for Ohio. I am still super excited!

thank you for the kind words! I am still in shock I dug this coin in Ohio! I am hoping to make a display of some sort with large pictures as a background, something to hang in my treasure room.

All that trash you've dug up in your MDing days ~ you deserve a treasure like that! And how sweet that it was the first dig of the day.
Congrats, enjoy the ride on cloud 9!
