Hi All,
I have been researching for new sites & came across reference to a 19th century granite quarry on public grounds.
Lots of exploring & hiking lead to no good metallic finds, but I did find a very large dump area littered with early 20th century bottles, trash, & farming implements.
It appears untouched.
I dug a few shovels of dirt looking to see how deep the trash went, evidence of ash,
not sure how to excavate without breaking everything :icon_scratch:
or how long the dump was used.
I took one 'Bulloch Lade' Scotch Whisky bottle and went on my way.
When I started taking photos, I discovered a friend in the bottle :laughing7:
he has a new home now, the stream behind my house.
Anyone in central/southern NH wants to check this site can PM me.
HH to everyone!

Thanks all!
I try to squeeze in a hunt whenever I can while travelling to different jobsites,
most are pretty short, and I have a section of my truck devoted to clean clothes.
(and all the ineffective tick repellants) ::)

That is a redback salamander and they live in the woods under stones, logs and leaf matter. He's not at home in the water.

Thanks all!
I released the salamander near the stream, not in it,
It gets really dry here in the summer and he wouldn't make it far from a water source.
I won't be returning to this dump site,
I just threw it out there for anyone interested ;D HH to all

I have redback salamanders living in my basement. It is a dirt floor, always damp with rocks and old boards. Perfect place for them to live. Along with earth worms and other creepy crawly bugs for them to eat. I used to occasionally catch snakes there until I plugged the holes they were crawling through.
