I thought of you when I found it & the trashy land near you where I paid £5 to get a hammered It was very lucky, its in the middle of nowhere, no good signs, only 5 or so bits of iron (modern) & the nearby crop marks are probably 2000 years earlier. I had not worn my boots so I was getting spiked by the thistles constantly, we had given up in favour of the grass fields we spotted on the way in, after completely about 90% of it (not counting the 50% under weed). The little bit that was left just bugged me, so I zigzagged across it & hit the best signal in the whole area. :P

Its one of those completely unexpected moments that puts a smile on your face & makes you wonder why

    Hello,
Yes, that's a good size Atlantic Halibut. 41 lbs of beautiful fish.
The Pacific variety are the giants.
When I lived on the West coast I stalked the elusive salmon.
Is that the species you fished for?
I was holding the halibut, but this Cod was a bit more difficult at 70 lb!

Love the size of that Cod Herbie!
Sure hope it wasn't "catch & release"!

    Great finds Cru!
You and your father did well considering the limited field space you had to work with!

    This piece is my favourite!

I couldn't agree more about those unassuming, desperate places. They many times produce some of the best stuff. Congrats on the James I Hammered. Looks to be in pretty good shape to. Love the insitu photo.

That is a fish of a lifetime, we (in the UK) have to go to Norway now to get 30lb'ers, my biggest off the UK coast is too small to admit to

No never tried Salmon fishing, its far too expensive. I used to mainly Carp & Pike Fish, but like Tench & will try all sorts of new species.
