Large Cent out of park
I was out at my local tot lot which is older then my grandma she's like 96.... I did some looking into the park it at one time was a quarry. So I was hunting a spot I never hunted be for due to a lot of trash, I got a high 94-96 on my AT PRO, I was thinking great another piece of iron so I dug it hit a root I was like hell. So I said screw it went deep under the root and this pop-ed out, I was like NO WAY........... It says 183? I think but I'm happy as a horse...
Enjoy the pics

Re: Large Cent out of park
Before I got my ProPointer, I was down by the river where I had found a no date buffalo. Continuing on down the bank, I got a solid repeat signal. Started digging and ran into a root similar to what you encountered. I had no way of cutting through the root nor anything large enough to get under the root and gave up on it! That was last August. After reading your post......................guess where I'm going ?
Older Garrett GTA 350, Garrett Pro Pointer - 2011 totals: 1667 coins, 18 rings (6 silver, 1 gold).

Re: Large Cent out of park
Looks like you have either a Coronet Large Cent (1816-1839) or a Braided Hair Large Cent (1839-1857).
I'd suggest cleaning the coin by allowing it to set in warm water with a drop of Dawn dishwashing soap, followed by a thorough rinse. I'd then suggest cleaning with acetone and Q-tips to remove as much organic debris as possible without damaging the coin. Acetone reacts only with organic debris, such as soil and sap. Find more on using that method on the coin cleaning area here.
Please post more pics after cleaning.
