It broke right at the base of the shaft, or sleeve. It had also broke the connection on the resistor, but was able to solder that back.

Sucks about your pointer,you may give a fiberglass patch kit a try,be pretty messy but if you trim the patchs nice and be neat with the sauce Im sure it would be strong enough to hold it,good luck...shoot

Try this it works. Get some black "rubber" tape (not vinyl) Take a few tight wraps around the break with out obstructing the power button. Then take some household plumbing goop, and cover the rubber tape as neat as you can. Let it dry overnight. It wont break again, and it will be water proof. I have done the same thing in the past.

JB weld doesn,t seem to work on plastic,it softens it..Might try 2 part epoxy.
Yes the ground in KS is hard,Ive bent 2 gator diggers this year.

old school whites cion master 6/db and dfx 300 ace 250
super glue it back together let it dry then use a soldering gun and drag it across the crack and melt the plastic back together knda like welding it
