I made it back to the old swimming hole for a three hour hunt today. The find of the day is silver coin #26 for the year, 1927 SLQ. I haven't found one with a readable date in a long time. I also found two silver rings. The small bent and broken band is marked sterling the other ring isn't marked. It took me about 15 minutes to extract the flower ring from the creek bottom. The bottom is a combination of shale, sand, and clay packed hard like concrete. I use a small hand shovel and a screwdriver to dig the targets. The other coin finds were 6 wheats, 12 zinc, 3 coppers and two dimes. I am running my XLT on relic mode. If it makes a noise, I dig it. Some of the targets are pretty big. It makes me wonder how they were missed all these years. There's no rain in the forcast so when the water goes down some more I will be able to hit some of the deeper spots. I know there's gold there and it is a matter of time until I find it. Thanks for looking! DD.

Looks to me like the gold should be coming shortly.

What is that pendant-like thing? Looks originally like 2 earrings, but the bottom portion looks more like a Mayan gorget or breastplate. And what it is doing in PA?

You need to check that SLQ closer. It has a mintmark (to the left of the "1" in "1927"). If it is an "S", then it is the second lowest mintage of the series and a heck of a find.

YEAH! That's a great semi-key date find there!

Nice digs. Is that an old pewter spoon bowl in your finds? Could be some really old stuff nearby....
