I met up with another hunter today, first time i've met anyone scanning the mud.
Told him 'there ain't nothing good down here' (with a big Sh*t eating grin )
Said he comes down twice a year to pick up scrap metal
(he had his bucket) Wished him luck & we parted ways, I wonder how many Ducats he's found
No doubt he's gotten more than scrap....
Anyway, I got my third favorite button, backmark: 'W (crown) IV The King'
Can't get a good pic, those convexes are tough, clear to the naked eye though \
Cool little Eagle & Shield pin, looks like something came off the back during recovery.
(was dug from 3 feet of muddy water )
Copper piece, maybe military item,
A thick brass medallion thing 'The Wright Flyer'
1973 '10 New Pence'
One of those big old tire valves 'Schraeder 976' The PF wingnut cap still threads...
baby flounder came up in my shovel !! Grabbed a pic & got him back in, I'd like to run into him in 3 or 4 years.

He probably has buckets of ducats. Fun stuff. I would be curious about the eagle/shield. Early 1800's? or Late 1800's? ALmost reminds me of the eagle/shield on the US made Phillipino coins.

Nice saves! You have been raking in some mighty fine goodies hesr of late! That eagle pin is a patriotic (jewelry) pin, but without the fastener, it's hard to date. They still make them today.

I would bet he's been at it longer than me,
neither of us was giving much up, I did say the entire coastline in these parts is full of targets
The eagle is different from the spanish war coinage, bars & stars are a match,
may be Spanish war related.
I dug some vet medals from that war, a wholly different design.

Relics abound! Coins are tough lately...
got a lead on a ghost town near my house....
found one group of 5 buildings, too grown in to hunt, vines covering everything.
the property dates back long before the standing buildings, (all built on posts, only one has a chimney)
I'm told there are many more foundations and derelict structures nearby.
searched around the pillarstones at the entrance to this property for a bit,
was the only clear area..
found the spare key right at the base of the standing pillar
biting greenhead flies drove me away I'll be back...

Way to go on that great button and Eagle, but the Flounder is really the BANNER material.
Question: What is that item in the 10th photo below the valve stem and about the penny? I digs those quite often and never figured out what they were.

More great finds. Those weeds around those building look like they could use a dose of heavy round-up...and then you would have some sweet hunting come fall . Well, I figured it was too good to be true, only having one other competitor in the area...now there's two. I guess that is a little better than the 100+ in my area . What is the big brass circular plate? Looks like the brass keeps piling up!

As Wallhangers already mentioned, "the weeds around those buildings look like they could use a dose of heavy round-up...and then you would have some sweet hunting come fall!"

This site looks to hold a lot of potential for you once the weeds and the " biting greenhead flies" are gone!

Dug, I think your referring to a 'valvestem cover', from old Schraeder valves for pneumatic tires, like lipsticks, but thicker and usually knurled.
BigCypressHunter put some great examples in this post:

Crazyslasher, Gotta soak those relics for weeks in freshwater, I've put items away that were still salty, and next time I look, they are a pile of red and green powder.
Maybe not that bad, but there is an effect that spreads & will eat the items up.
You can see a 'danger area' in the photo below, the red spot on the tapkey will eat through the metal in short order unless treated.

Don't know what that handcut disc was used for...
3/16" copper plate, it has no markings.
The hunter I met yesterday was at the first site we visited together, I had gone there the day before and found the 'Crossed Cannons' pin lying on the surface.
When I saw him yesterday, I was searching the other side of the creek.

I thought that looked like a lamp part, pretty big one...
I'm really looking forward to exploring this 'Ghost town' area,
A local mechanic who is a lifetime resident told me about it, it abuts an unused overgrown road that used to be well travelled, lots of these up here, but this one is remote and almost unrecognisable.
Already have permission from property owners on both sides

Identified as partial USN officers cap pin after finding an intact example, the eagle shown in OP lost the crossed anchors and pin. HH
