I was "Over"-Due! My 1st New Jersey(1786), and a Conn.(#13) In Mass Updated Pics

Haven't been out much but got out today. My brother and I were at the spot where I found the baseball sized crotal bell for about 3 hrs., with NO luck. My wife called and I said I would be home shortly. (a 40 min. drive) :tongue3: Well anyways, we were driving back on this dirt road, to make it out to the highway and I had passed this spot several times but this time I noticed a break in the wall, so I stopped. About 30 yards in this stand of pines was a cellar hole. All grown over and filled in, no-one can notice it. So we grabbed our detectors and "THE VERY FIRST HOLE", out pops a copper! Then I noticed the shield! WOO-HOO! My first NJ! WE only had about 10 mins to detect so I went around the other side of the hole. BANG! Underneath what looked like an old walkway, and about 5 stones out pops this Conn! 2 holes-----2 State Coppers! My brother had some choice words! :laughing9: Anyway, these are the pics, right from the ground, before cleaning. I'll post either tonight or tomarrow what they come out like. The reverse on the NJ looks like it has a ton of detail. The obverse is more corroded. The Conn looks almost the same condition both sides. The Conn. was also protected by rocks. We'll see what they look like for ID afterwards. :hello2: UPDATE: NJ is a Maris 14J "Very Common" and Conn is a Miller 19-G.4 @ R-3 Scarce.

I'm gonna try and see if I can get it off....but I don't wanna take detail too. I can see small amounts of pitting around the corrosion. Going to work on it a little tonight. Then I'll coat it with olive oil or vaseline. (Enhances details)
