Re: Lance head from the Sixth Pennslyvania Cavalry... Rush's Lancers!

Are these spots that you knew were forded during the war or would the water have since carried the relics down river?

Hi NOLA-K... If you mean the green ones, I believe that they are parts to a saddle. We find them in Cav camps pretty often. Thanks for the comment..
I don't really know anything about saddles and saddle parts, here's a couple pics of what i had in mind though :

They do look very similar! Check out this post with pictures of a saddle and what I believe I probably found. Very interesting... http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php?topic=397555.0

And joeyfresh... I go all sorts of places to include fords, home sites near water, mills, etc. I'm sure some stuff just gets washed down too.

Defiantly Banner! I cant even find any of these on line shown in museums, and doubt many, if any, exist.

That's a BANNER FIND AC!!! I have only seen them in relic books and very few on the web. To be able to pin it down to the unit is also very cool. Congrats on a very great recovery. Also, the oval piece as you already know is a saddle guard plate used to tie down a bedroll on a McClellan saddle. Here's one I posted from a hunt this past winter. HH, Quindy.
