Warning: This post contains pics of early 1900's bottles!

Hello everybody!

I am really excited to finally be posting this! Ever since I've started metal detecting, I have found some really great items. But I have always wanted to find and dig an old bottle dump. Well, November of last year, I got my wish! Being a teenager, my first bottle dump is a pretty early one, and oh yeah, it's only five minutes away from my house! ;D

I was walking my dog and found a broken "Daniel Boone Beverage" bottle. I was just getting interested in old bottles and thought it was a cool find. Little did I know that this was just the beggining. That same day, I went a little further into the woods where I found the Boone bottle and spotted an old jar. And when I went to go look at it, I found my very first medicine bottle! It was a "CHAMBERLAIN COLIC AND DIARRHEA REMEDY" aqua corktop medicine! Right next to it, I found my first ink. On it you can barely read "X. BAZIN, PHIL." The jar turned out to be a "It's Frenches" Mustard jar. After finding these bottles, it didn't take long till I started digging up the place, with permission of course! That same day, I pulled up three more corktop medicines, one being a purple "Rydale's", another mustard jar, and some other bottles! Since that day, I have pulled up over 60 early 1900's bottles! Some of my best ones are pictured below! My smallest bottle is what I call my "pill popper". It's an early corktop pill bottle that says "GETS IT" on the bottom! My oldest bottle is the "ABNER ROYCE CO. , PURE FRUIT FLAVOR EXTRACTS" which was dated around 1880-1890 by an expert at a bottle show. I have also found some snuff jars, many proken plates/bowls, junk peices of iron, an early spoon and fork, A half of a black glass button (Didn't know it was glass 'til I dropped it! :( ) a wick mechanism to a kerosene lantern, a shoe sole, a watch/makeup case lid, an early porcelain insulator and the bottom of an old lightbulb. I still go near the site when walking my dog and I'm still finding bottles! I know that there is a whole hutchinson or bloptop soda bottle out there somewhere. I keep wondering if this place will ever dry up of bottles! I sure hope not! :tongue3: Thanks for taking a look! Enjoy the pics! HH and God Bless!

Very nice finds NCSS! :notworthy:

Love the ink bottle and this spoon & fork!

The oil lamp burner you found could fit either a "gallery lamp burner" or a kerosene lantern. :icon_thumright:
(see pic of a similar Dietz lamp burner below)

Great find! Reminds me of one my wife and I found in New Hampshire, years ago. We went back to that dump many times and always came away with good stuff! Keep digging in yours...you will be rewarded!
