Yesterday I started out early on a new site that did not pan out for me . It was a medium sized lawn area in the city that is common outdoor space for 4 apartment buildings. All built in the late 1800;s . unfortunately the piece I was hunting was ruined when they paved the rest of the common area for parking . the only finds there were a little bit of clad . I left and headed for the wooded park I have been hunting , Made a few finds there . Two Indians 1882 and a 1907, The 1960 dime, a 51 wheatie and the 62 canadian. Another good example of a Boston & Maine railroad lead seal . a couple other seals and a lead musket ball as well . I also stumbled across this pile of Iron knockouts of various sizes They were all withinin a 2 ft area on top to 2 inches deep . I think a kid brought them out in the woods to play with them This morning I went to another new site and basically struck out again with only a 20th century plated buckle piece to show for it . I had high hopes for this site till I started hunting and quickly realized it had been hunted hard by someone else. Holes showing everywhere. Back to the research board ! Happy hunting and thanks for looking MaineRelic

That is exactly what I like about the hobby, unpredictible, and the unexpected goodies. I just mentioned that in my post. What you think might be a good site turns out not to be, and when you least expect it, something good pops out, and surprises the poop out of you..

Silver and Indians makes for a good hunt, everyday can't be rainbows and lollypops, (or Silver knee buckles.)

Cool buckle MR!!! Anytime you find a pre 1900 IH, you've had a good day. I have never dug a RR seal. HH, Quindy.
