Hi All :hello:
After reading about a recent river crossing Find :o
I did some research on where crossings would be around here.
Not quite what I was looking for, but I located where a ferry operated before the bridges were built. A stone abutment, steel cable, & pilings where the landing was.
Over 3 lowtide searches of 3 hours each I recovered a decent assortment.
First I'll describe the most valuable.
$595 in copper and brass scrap, ;D most in the form of thick 5" copper flashing, 140+ pounds of this. the rest asst large bolts, hardware & other pieces.
The scrapman was surprised to see me again, I was just there at the end of July.
In between all the trash and overload signals, my new 6X9 Joey coil got me 3 turn of the century dimes, 2 IHs, my 2nd '5th Wheel Free Drink' token, Life Insurance payment calculator, lead toy pieces, Human molar?, sterling class ring, (I Have Emails out to the School & Organizer of last class reunion), one old pewter button, lots of wheats & modern coinage.
I also recovered one of those zinc 'Crowfoot' battery pieces found at the 'Famous' rivercrossing ::)
Love this Coiltek 'Joey', probably wouldn't have found any coins here without it, Thanks for the recommendation Mike, Great Deal too :D
Woodlanddetectors is #1 for service & pricing.
HH all! thanks for Looking

Great looking site Herbie~! The finds are fantastic...The Coiltek Joey coil is by far the best aftermarket coil for Minelab machines I have ever used.. I'm glad you see this too.
I wouldn't go anywhere without mine. ...Did you notice the depth you got with it too? :headbang:
Did you like it's target separation abilities?

Nice finds!

Great research on your new site Herbie! :notworthy:
Nice to see you posting your finds again . . . I've been out of town for a few days myself.
The class ring looks pretty old or maybe that's just what the saltwater does to it? :icon_scratch:

These two pieces are my favourite! The shamrock shaped piece looks to have a Japanese
influence to it . . . I wonder if it's purpose was as a calling card holder or a candy dish? :dontknow:
Are there any makers marks on the back?
This brass door is cool! :icon_thumright: What do you think it came from?

Take care buddy,
Dave

Thanks All!
Mike, the joeys separation is oustanding!
Depth is not an issue here (yet), mostly surface & near surface targets.
note barnacles on mounted rider toy ;D
Am hopefully hitting an inland site today to check out this coil on some deep targets.
Best :icon_thumleft:

Hi Dave, Indeed another oriental dish...
The brass item is a book style compact I believe, glass from mirror intact, small section contained powder cake.
Bst Digs to you!

Cash and trinkets. Sounds like a good spot to me!

Do you have any idea if the joey coil was improved in recent years? Early on it was not even waterproof and many people had moisture issues. If it's no better now I don't know if I'd be using it around salt water, and definitely not in the water.

Some great finds Herbie, glad to hear you got the Joey coil also. Not sure about how waterproof it is, I don't think I am going to push it on mine. I think it can handle getting wet but not sure about long-term keeping it underwater, maybe Mike can answer that. It's a great coil for working some of those heavy iron areas you hunt. Keep up the good digs!

It's many years ago it had problems and was not considered waterproof, and quite honestly I never understood it at the time, and would be pretty dumb if it's still the same.

I read on dealer add stating it was good in the water so maybe it's just me that's stuck in 2002. I would expect all coils to be waterproof, and maybe it is now. I also think on the website it used to say only water resistant, but now does not. Probably a good sign you're fine.

Good spot :icon_thumright:,good job on the research , :icon_thumright: The bottles were most likely soda water bottles , they have crown caps ,but are applied tops, rough guess late 1880s,early 1890s.Love the silver :headbang:

Daaaymm SHW! You sure have the spots and know how towork them. I imagine the next big rain should get you some more finds in that spot. Has to be a trove, just some work getting to all of it. That '13 should clean up like a beauty.
