Don't worry Jimmy it wasn't a Commodus :laughing9:
(although Dad found it, so only 1 each really :D )

Dad went out for nearly 3 hours before the rain & made a wise move. We had discussed his previous short visit yesterday to this classic looking hill spot & agreed that the 2 scrappy coins meant we were close.

He got a nice Medieval Knife Terminal (2 Beast heads)
Brass Horse Boss
3 Roman Bronze Coins

Plus a Roman Silver;

Domitian AR Denarius circa AD90
(only our 2nd Roman Silver of this Emporer & pretty early for our area)

Can't wait to hit this site in better condition.

Big thanks to Land-mag :icon_pirat:

I think the last time we both had a Roman Silver was Feb this year, so funny we finally got one in the same week. (His early period - mine late)

Sadly I knew it was about 19mm before I checked as thats the standard size for a Denari. The Roman were pretty good at mass production :thumbsup:

There is just no end to the treasure's that you guys find over there,,,all I can say is ,,,AWESOME!!!!!
The first couple of years we seem to really hoover stuff off, so our continued success mostly is due to new sites, which as a team we make look easier than it appears :wink:

Thanks everyone else, its one of our more exciting finds, it would be about a days pay for a Roman Soldier & they didn't lose many. It would be a little like you losing a $50 bill :-[

To be honest everyone is excited. Land-mag who got the permission & spotted the cropmark (I think that's right, we spot so many together its hard to remember all of them) & Dad who is always hard to convince & somewhat fluked this one out without gridding. Myself because it confirms what we thought (Land-mag & I), that it must be a Roman Site of some significance. Lastly the owner/farmer who knew nothing about what was in that field. Has now been informed & is excited as well about the history the team tentatively promised & now delivered :thumbsup: It is great when a team has continued success :coffee2:
