I worked today and had not been out hunting since Tuesday ! So I was chomping at the bit to try a new site that I thought might be hiding a few pieces of old treasure :laughing7: . It is down the road from the 1790s house and barn I have been hunting. It is another big late 18Th century home . I do not have permission to hunt the house side of the road but across the street is town owned hiking trails through woods that used to be fields to the farm across the street . I was hoping I could hit a few field worker drops amongst the trees. Parts of the field are barren and these spots were easy to hunt , This place is public and has been hunted so I was not expecting fast and furious action. but 30 seconds into the hunt my very first signal of the day was the 1901 Indianhead :hello2: Wow I thought maybe this place has not been hunted hard :icon_scratch:. Then it quieted down and I did not hit another good signal for 45 minutes A lead seal ! Well at least the Indian was not a complete fluke ! I kept trying to grid in and out of forest and field as best I could when I got a real sweet tone I knew was a coin , 6 inches down through a tough root system. Being careful I pull out a hand full of dirt out from underneath a root and it rang loud in my headphones . I caught a glimpse of silver. . Right away I could see it was not U.S. currency . But was not sure what it was. Thinking Spanish :icon_scratch: I did not want to clean it in the field so I tucked it away till I got home . I did not expect it to be an 1897 British shilling :hello2: A small buckle, a 1923 wheatie , and the old looking copper piece :dontknow: any Ideas ???? were the other hits in my three hour hunt ! :icon_sunny: Thanks for looking !
