It's questionable so do the research so that you know exactly what you have in your hand.
:laughing9: exactly what I was thinking  :BangHead:

If researching reproduction coins is worth your time, go for it. ;D

They sell these at numismatic shows. I dont see how reproductions are even legal to do.
Whenever I would see the on the tables I would get a little sick to my stomach.
It's just wrong.

When they're as bad as this one is it doesn't matter because it would only fool people who don't have much experience, and they would most likely not shell out the kind of cash it would take to buy a real one.

that's what I was thinking, but it doesn't help the confidence in the market (like ebay) when 25%+ are fakes, which damages us all unless your buying the right stuff

Yeah, it is a fake, and a bad one. No point in getting it checked out, it is not even close.

I would agree with slabber----not so fast nad have it checked---you just never know. where the specs stating that isn't the real thing-----good luck
[/quote] :laughing7: :icon_scratch: Let's try this ... may help those wishful thinkers :sign13: The OP is aware it is a repro . Members who have real ones and many who are well versed in coin identification realize , it's a copy . Others who know jack about coins understand it is not genuine ::) so it has been checked out ... NO specs , TN veteran coin hunters state that the reproduction coin , "you just never know " , most already know exactly what it is ..... :dontknow: :icon_scratch: ??? Fake :laughing7:

That's why people should buy the seller and not the coin.

This type of fear/situation should have got me a great deal the other day but stupid me forgot to bid. An Ebay seller had a high grade early 2 reale on and when I first clicked the listing he only was showing one side. There was a question asking to see the other side, and if the coin was genuine. The guy did end up adding a 2nd pic, but in his answer said he couldn't guarantee authenticity.... and it was real! Talk about not doing yourself any favors. It sold for $30 and was easily $100 coin. Either you think a coin is real and sell it as that, or don't sell it at all. But never give bidders a reason not to bid! If you make a mistake it can always be rectified after the sale but the $50 plus like that seller lost ain't gonna come back. I've love all sellers to make the buyers suspect of their offerings. :laughing7:
