Nice find! :icon_thumright: I may be way off here so don't quote me on this but as far as I can tell the date on a 1723 Woods Hibernia is located in the upper right corner. You may have a counterfeit there or some type of unique strike. Also how big is the coin? If it's slightly larger than a quarter it's a halfpenny, smaller and it's a farthing.

Thanks for the info JW.
It is a touch larger than a Quarter.
As for counterfit i am clueless but unlike many copper coins we find
it is pretty solid on the edges .

You'll never know for sure but a George I Halfpenny is much less likely to be counterfeit than a pre 1800 George III, or a George II. And when they are counterfeit they are usually so close to the Regal issues they don't get much interest. I can't imagine how many halfpennies I have seen now (thousands) and have never seen a crude counterfeit George I. They just don't seem to exist, and sort of makes the point that the numbers of counterfeits are pretty low in general, by % anyway.
