hi everyone, had today off and though i would try the area near a railway brigde that crosses shallow creek.there still some water in that part of the creek with a small island with a couple trees and high grass.i couldn,t get across to the island. the water was just vile and smell not to good.i did notice this bird called a bower bird and theres about 16 different types.the males build a bower.a bower is long grass formed into an arch and the males collect all sorts of objects and place them around the bower.these birds are known to pick up coins and rings, bits of glass ,pull tabs, and what ever shiny objects they can find ,for their bower.this all part of their mating process.the males call and dance about to attract a female.the better the bower the better the chance to attract a female.i will have to go back to this island after the mating season is over and check to see if theres anything of interest at the bower.abower is not nest or home for these birds.mostly tree birds except in the early spring.could not get any pictures of the bird or the bower so i borrowed some from a webb page to show what i mean.had to add a point of interest as i had a lean day.picked up 4 english pennies 1878,1884,1899,one aussie penny 1904.i did find this little fine china figure of a little girl sticking out of the mud.i not sure of its age or if it is a part of something.sort of looks like a little gypsy girl .good pics are borrowed and the bad pics are mine
todays finds and pic of this interesting little bird and its bower
