I only had about an hour and a half to go detecting today, so I headed to my "fave" field. It's still stubble at the mo' and all the weed seeds are germinating, so it's getting a bit over grown, but the field is 5 mins away and time was short. The hammered was actually lying in the chaff and I kept moving it around thinking I was getting some kind of falsing signal, but the trusty Garrett Pro pointer did it's work and I was soon enough holding my smallest hammered in my grubby hands :laughing7:. The Rose farthing is a fairly common find for around here, but this is the best one I have found :icon_thumleft:. The buckle was a bit of a mystery at first, it came out of the soil very clean, in fact none of the finds have been "cleaned" other than a rinse under the tap, and I thought it was damaged. But when I got home I looked up UKDFD and there it was, a Double Loop Rectangular 'Locking' Buckle circa 1350- 1450, like this one http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/ukdfddata/showrecords.php?product=27063&cat=192 . I wish I could have spent longer over there today but I couldn't. I think I'll go back tomorrow and hit the Saxon side of the field and see what comes up . Anyway, on with the pics.

A small motorbike badge, sadly broken in half (not by me). The two parts were lying about 18" apart

I don't know what this is, but it is patterned

Rose farthing, obverse

6.jpg
The hammered, a Bessy 1 Portcullis Halpenny. It does look the same as the James 1st one tho'

1/2 Oz Trade weight (inside)

All the stuff together, minus some big bits of lead.

Thanks for looking, take care out there :icon_thumleft:

James I only have a thistle above, so as you say, its a Lizzy :icon_thumright: Had a couple this year with the big coil

The pattern thing looks like the side piece to a cap gun handle.

The locking buckle is very nice, never had a complete one :headbang:

Hi Nutriasub, how are you?. Yes it was a good 1.5 hours, hopefully a bit more tomorrow . The buckle is the same as http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/ukdfddata/showrecords.php?product=27063&cat=192 I will record mine tomorrow if I have time :D

Thanks worldtalker, but to you my name is Ian, it's OK, Crusader doesn't post with his fingers unfortunately. He is one of the brainiest people I know. Trouble is he types too fast and all the time he is catorgorising his Saxon finds, spelling and such come second. But I will always default to him and SS. When he put James I, it wasn't my name, but a reference to what the coin wasn't. My fault really.

You never can tell on some of my fields, you think you might find Saxon, then you find Roman. You think you might find medieval and you find Victorian. Thats why I love this hobby, all I ask is that I can id what I find . Take care mate, and happy hunting
