...someone decided to put a hole in it. Went to a field today that's produced older coins in the past. After 5 minutes got a signal that sounded sort of like a Zincoln. But, instead, out pops a Seated Half Dime! Might gross as an XF, but of course the hole lowers that. Still happy she popped out! Took forever to get reasonable pics.

HH all!

I've had a handful of these turn up at the place I hunt but never one with a hole. Actually on my wish list. Trade you? Great find.

I just found a 1838 Seated Half Dime a few days ago, my first seated coin but mine was from the salt water so not as nice as yours.

Can saltwater do this to silver? Very interested.

Oh most definitely, saltwater coins are almost always thickly tarnished a purplish black sometimes they are actually in a concretion.

Even Rosies and Washington silvers! (You can always try a little electrolysis on it though)

The hole is a bummer plus the guy still lost it anyway so the hole is ironic as well

haha, so you'd want to trade me a perfectly good seated half dime for this one that's all holed up?
