Greetings,

I found a couple of cool finds at a cove today and I'm hoping someone could date this little guy here:

It's a bit smaller than a dime, as you can see...

Here's the back. I'm not sure if it used to be a button.

I also found this nice little sugar spoon.

The hallmark says... WMA Rogers. I'm not sure if its pre or post Oneida.

Happy hunting everyone!

It is definatly U.S. Army. It probably was from the army dress green uniform jacket. The one you found could have been worn from the 1960's to the present time. These buttons have not changed much in the last 30+ years. Nice find! :icon_thumleft:

Interesting! It's a small world. :)

I was using my 6" concentric... but I plan to hit that beach again at the end of the week. I'm getting a Double D coil, and I'm hoping the added depth will bring out some goodies. I didn't find any coins with the 6 ". Perhaps I will with the Double D.

It's impossible to narrow down the date for your button without a backmark. The US Great Seal button was used from 1902 - present, so somewhere in there. Being smaller than a dime, that would be worn on the sleeve or cuff on a dress uniform jacket. The larger size, larger than a quarter and much more plentiful is what most people find. Yours is a little more rare.

I must find this backmark. :icon_pirat:

There could be more. There are layers upon layers of pebbles in area, followed by sand and then clay once you start digging past 6-7 " of sand.

Surprisingly, I found him in one of the pebbled areas, a couple of inches down, closer to the top of the beach.
